Jewel in the Palace (2003–2004)

Unforgettable experience

I remember I watched this series back when I was still in high school. I was impressed by it. The series talks about the struggle of a brilliant woman in Joseon era where her identity as a woman defined her function in society. The characters was just lovable and believable. The casts have good acting and the scenery is beautiful. I re-watched it again recently and honestly, I never get bored of it. The main reason is because I can relate to Jang-Geum's story where her passion, kindness, and determination led her to be a successful woman in her times. The supporting characters also play significant role to the story and their conflict was presented well. The drama has quite long episodes, but for me this is the best historical drama about a regular person in the palace (where the main leads are not an heir to the throne dealing with power and political conflict). It is a heartfelt story that was executed in an awesome way.
