Three Stooges and one girl (with not so great intentions)
26 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
"Corny Casanova" is an American black-and-white sound short film from 1952 and the names White and Adler should tell you that here we got of course another Three Stooges short film, not one of their most or least known ones. This is a fairly minimal work as the trio here is basically completely on his own in terms of the cast with the exception of actress Connie Cezon, who plays the love interest to all 3 of them while actually being a gold digger though. The result is a great deal of jealousy in the film's second half and the first half is basically generic Stooges slapstick comedy with lots of poking, but little plot. Shemp was in here already, so it is not one of the earlier works we got here, but instead from the days when Curly had died already and Shemp was bound to be a permanent member, at least until hie own untimely death. It's really generic Stooges stuff we have here and all in all I would say that if you like or even love them, then check it out, otherwise skip it. Most likely you will have seen a great deal of their other works before considering seeing this one here, so you can make up your mind for yourself. It is not better or worse than anything other they have done during that era early on in the second half of the 20th century, so this one is over 65 years old already and it is one of their many works that is not a remake itself, but got remake later on with Joe Besser and it is slightly better, not much than said remake. All in all, I personally give it a thumbs-down and don't recommend checking it out as it won't turn you into a Stooges fan if you weren't one before.
