Review of Krypton

Krypton (2018–2019)
10/10
Great characters and lots of action. Very 80s in it's delivery. I am happy :)

As soon as this show was out I sat down to watch the first episode and had this jarring feeling that things were not right. The East-London accents, seeing someone walking around in a baseball cap on an alien planet. I didn't finish. I was going to leave a low review score, but I don't see the point in doing that and thought it would be unfair to do that without really giving the series a try. Re-watching episode one ~ "Oh! The person with the baseball cap is actually from Earth" "Doh!". I found the Cockney accents a bit less jarring and by the end of the episode with the main Villain reveal - actually quite shocking - I was hooked and watching the second, and I have to say I love these characters, the Villains, SPecial FX and style of Cinematography, very 80s, reminds me of V The Series (but without the political subtext) and at times the Beauty and The Beast TV series crossed with Jupiter Ascending. Some of it, the lighting, sets and exterior shots remind me of Blade Runner a bit too. In it's way it is quite camp :) Lots of great shots of the villains and their villainous expressions ;) I wish the seductive Kryptonian with Marlon Brando Superdad hair would be far more vampish the way she started, and that there were less Earth-like instances such as swearing and technology being somewhat similar to nowadays' . Some of the costumes don't look Kryptonian enough for me, while others are really really impressive. The music uses a lot of voices and has an 80s edge to it also a lot. Overall it gets a 10 from me because the whole thing works well enough that I ignore what bugs me in favour of what is great about it and just want more and more, it's like an 80s sci fi dream show for me, happy days :)
