Warning: Spoilers
'Lee Evans - So What Now' is a typical example of a stand-up comedian branching into sitcom and falling flat on his face. Lee is a very talented comedian but unfortunately he is no great shakes as an actor ( a problem that blighted his earlier show 'The World Of Lee Evans' ) and this show reflects that.

Lee plays an exaggerated version of himself, a walking disaster area who breaks things the moment he touches them. He clearly based the character on both Frank Spencer from 'Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em' and Norman Wisdom. The show starts with Lee moving in with his slovenly friend Stuart after his wife kicks him out. Aside from causing unending chaos, Lee tries to avoid the attentions of his and Stuart's landlady, the man-mad Heather.

I liked this series at the time but watching it again recently I felt my patience being tested a great deal. Lee just came across as a flat cardboard cut-out of Frank Spencer and there were few genuinely funny moments. Steven O'Donnell and the lovely Sophie Thompson are wasted in the roles of Stuart and Heather. Lee is also said to have been unhappy with the show due to difficulties with scripts.

Only one series got made, after which Lee walked out on it. These days he seems to be staying out of the spotlight. If nothing else, at least his stand-up videos still keep us entertained.
