No fan of Laughton...but...

Warning: Spoilers
I've never been a fan of Charles Laughton, although there are occasions (such as in "Witness For The Prosecution") where I fully admit that he was often an excellent actor. This is another such case. Just a couple of weeks ago I saw him in "The Old Dark House" and thought he was horrible. But here...top notch.

The supporting cast includes Gertrude Lawrence (what a horrible character she played here) and Elsa Lanchester (Laughton's wife, and rather innocent acting here -- a far cry from "Bride Of Frankenstein".

What was interesting here, also, were the sets of Holland. So vivid.

The film seems very old-fashioned, but I was impressed by it.
