A Little Gem Hidden in an Unnoticed Fine Film
1 December 2018
This film, as you may already know, deals with a week in the life of a Hollywood producer. So for starters we do not have an epic here. That said, let me express that it is still very, very interesting to grasp what the life of these people is like in a real very good and quite faithful to reality (at least that's what it looks like) representation. Now, make no mistake about this: this is one of de Niro's best performances ever. Indeed it is, and if you consider the mediocrity of his career in these last 10~15 years, it is clearly not only his best of latest performances, but also it is objectively an impressive performance. Dealing with ego-sick characters as a producer must have to all the time (and maybe to some degree the producer is so itself) is definitely not an easy to perform character. To end with, the music is OUTSTANDING. It matches every emotional moment near to perfection, and indeed, Marcelo Zarvos should have been awarded for this. You may like this film (which I saw again last night after 9 years) as much as I did, or not so much, but in any case it will capture your attention from start to end. In a sense this film is unique by its script.
