"Once you have large family all other troubles mean nothing"
28 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A man Thomas Manning is shot in his study by someone who exits through a secret panel. After a period when the murder is not solved his daughter Leah asks Charlie Chan to solve the murder. He only has 48 hours before he has to leave the city but he does of course after two more murders helped by number three son Tommy.

Not one of the better Monogram Chan pictures. Too much time is given to comic relief Mantan Moreland as Birmingham Brown, who isn't that funny. This isn't a criticism of the actor as he was much better then the vapid mugging he was given to do in the Chan films. Sidney Toler played Chan in a bad mood most of the time, giving withering insults to Tommy that were hardly deserved.

There wasn't much of a mystery and the Chinese cat hardly figured in it all. The film did have the always welcome John Davidson as strange twins but he wasn't seen much as Carl or Kurt which was a shame. All in all, bearable.
