Review of Maniac

Maniac (2012)
1/10
Not worth my time
4 April 2019
I watched the first 1/3 of this film. I have always thought Wood was a little creep - and he is well suited to this role.

However, what put me off this film was the complete lack of understanding of the different types of "maniac". I'm sorry, but weirdo loners are not psychopaths and do not have those traits. You are telling me that someone who is a weirdo (and has bad, ugly hands) picks up beautiful women? No, that doesn't happen in real life. True psychopaths can pick up beautiful women - they have the gift of the gab, and are confident and outgoing. Weirdos do not. These women would have quietly excused themselves within minutes of chatting to him.

Anyway, the movie totally destroys any believability within the first ten minutes when it shows the protagonist using a dating site where a) the woman makes the first move, b) she makes the first move with a profile that has no picture, and c) she immediately agrees to meet with him.
