Stan Against Evil- Coincidence?
8 May 2019
Gould creates a very entertaining dark comedy horror series. This viewer finds it to be more than a coincidence and very similar to another series available to currently watch, which was spawned from Sam Raimi's 1981 cult classic, "The Evil Dead". However that's an entirely different opinion. This series has great direction, writing, cinematography, special effects, soundtrack and acting. All the actors do fine jobs portraying their outlandish characters however McGinley steals the show. His crisp perfectly timed one liners along with his facial expressions are hilarious. The plot revolves around a sarcastic ill tempered sheriff Stan Miller who is relieved of his post due to a rageful outburst at his wife's funeral. He is replaced by Evie Barret who is a bit more by the book and confident in her abilities as sheriff . Stan has never quite come to terms with his loss of authority. When some bizarre events start to occur in their cozy town of Willard's Mill, which happens to be the site of a massive witch extermination in 1689, Stan and Evie team up. A former evil Constable Eccles intentionally releases a hord of demons that the duo face from every angle and must do battle with to save the town. The plot is clever, witty, violent, riotous, gruesome, duplicitous, ingenious and is exorcising. It is a fun filled joy ride and one of the better series in it's genre.
