Almost 2 hours of my life I just want to forget
25 September 2019
So this was horrible. It came to Netflix and for a second I was quite excited of a movie adaption of the beloved and truly magical ballet. Little did I know that after watching this I would want to die.

The storyline is inconsistent and does not respect the original stories or the storyline we know from ballet. It's supposed to be an adaption, I get it, but with the nazi rats and very, very creepy Nutcracker it felt like I was warching a parody rather than a serious movie version of the original Nutcracker.

Tchaikovsky's music was horribly butchered via poorly constructed lyrics that only acted as a temporary distraction from the horrible storyline. The attempt was maybe to make this into a musical but the occasional songs did not exactly create a consistent musical effect. I will say that Elle Fanning is a charming and talented actress but even she couldn't support this bad of a movie.

So please, please don't watch this, it's not a cute version of a beloved christmas story, it's a weird and disturbing movie with a lot of II World War references that don't really serve a purpose in this movie. I hated it so much that I created an account here just so I could say just how vad this movie is.

Now I want to forget this movie.
