I remember watching this on UK television as a kid. Upon revisiting the details of the series however, I find that I have intertwined 'The Awakening Land' with another classic series called 'Centennial' which came out around the same time. Both are a great watch. I only found the correct title for this production by searching out Hal Holbrook's career - serendipity :)
