No Rest For The Living...

Warning: Spoilers
THE SURVIVOR is an Aussie film from Argento-influenced Director David Hemmings. It stars Robert Powell as the impossibly lucky airline pilot, Keller, who survives a plane crash that kills the rest of the passengers and crew. He is later joined by a psychic named Hobbs (Jenny Agutter), who assists him in finding out not only how, but also why he survived.

The story darkens when others start dying in alleged "accidents". It seems that the dead have somehow returned, and they're not happy!

Powell is his usual odd, enigmatic self, and Ms. Agutter makes a decent paranormal type. There is a nice, gloom-filled mood to this film, and it is the direct inspiration for the movie SOLE SURVIVOR in 1984, and ultimately, FINAL DESTINATION in 2000. Now, in all fairness, this movie probably owes its existence to the original CARNIVAL OF SOULS from 1962...
