Silly, but fun

Warning: Spoilers
Stuffy scientist Dr. Mallinger (well played to the uptight hilt by Robert Flemyng) creates a monster that can transform from a giant killer humanoid moth into a beautiful woman who happens to be his daughter Clare (a solid and entrancing portrayal by the very fetching Wanda Ventham). Naturally, the creature feeds on the blood of male victims in its moth form.

Director Vernon Sewell treats the gloriously ludicrous premise with jaw-dropping seriousness, relates the enjoyably inane story at a reasonable pace, and delivers a decent amount of bloody violence. Moreover, Peter Cushing manages to keep his dignity intact as the diligent Inspector Quenell, Vanessa Howard radiates a considerable amount of charm as the sweet Meg, and Roy Hudd contributes a funny and lively turn as a jolly and gluttonous morgue attendant. In addition, the hilariously ridiculous moth monster is a positively sidesplitting sight to behold,; the way it meets an untimely fiery demise at the end will have you rolling on the floor with laughter. A total kitschy hoot and a half.
