Every single queen on this competition has been memorable, and their talent has shone through more than most other seasons of Drag Race. The cast is diverse and engaging, probably one of the better casts of queens ever. Challenges are always fun and are designed to showcase a range of talent. These Canadian queens have plenty of talent that sometimes does not show in RPDR US.
However, the judges or production team are clearly blind. Runway critiques are unnecessarily harsh for seemingly no reason, and the taste level of ALL of the judges must be put into question. Brooke clearly has a good knowledge of drag, considering she is a queen herself, but her reviews of the queens are unfair. The favouritism of Rita, who is a strong contender, is evident. Although Rita is clearly a top 3 contender, the show is awarding her unfair wins when other queens have outperformed her. Her week six win was the most unfair win thus far, as her runway didn't even appear to fit the theme. Then, Priyanka, who's look was far better and looked like it had a similar material, was harshly critiqued on her look. Even in the first episode, Rita was given a win when all she wore was a sheet of wrapping paper and a knit overcoat. It was a safe look at best.
If there is going to be a Season Two, production needs to employ people who know what drag actually is instead of writers who choose the winner at the start of the competition. It seems to me that as long as the queen they want to win that week has a passable performance in the challenge on the runway, they are awarded the win. Remove any main judges who's knowledge of make-up is smudging a bit of colour on their lid. Maybe instead get actual queens to host the show.
In conclusion, the cast provides everything that the show needs. Without them, this would be an unwatchable mess. Every time the judges are shown, the world shakes in fear at the stupidity and and their tinted view on what drag is or should be. I sincerely hope they recast the judging panel to make this show THE BEST iteration of Drag Race.
