The Seduction (1982)
7/10
No Foreplay

A newscaster is stalked by her number one fan who just won't take "no" for an answer. After he's broken into her house and threatened her friends, she tries to get a restraining order out on him, but the police practically sneer at her for even making such a suggestion. At her wit's end, she gets herself and gun and gets ready for the day where she'll have to take matters into her own hand.

The Seduction is a beautifully shot film and there are a few moments of well orchestrated tension and suspense, but for a thriller, it's not as thrilling as it could be and the stakes seem to be pretty low for a majority of the film. This crazed stalker breaks into the protagonist's house fairly early into the film and snaps away at her with his camera and this is a scene that feels like it should have been placed way later into the film as a moment where the camel's back was broken. It might have been more effective if this stalker innocently and insidiously placed himself more into the lead's life, sending her gifts and flowers, befriending her friends, and calling her up until she finally turns him down definitively and he snaps.

There's not enough seduction in The Seduction. It wants to get right to the sex and skip the foreplay and that hurts the film. It's still entertaining and Morgan Fairchild has never looked more beautiful, but you can't help but think about what it could have been.
