Since another reviewer already pretty much gave away the plot, I will make a comment.

The main story of the episode had a whimsical touch to it, which was fun and curious (who was the "Kissing Bandit" and why was he doing what he was doing?).

But in the last act, the episode suddenly becomes very dark, and frankly a little jarring. To me whimsical can turn dark in the final act if it involves a tragedy of some kind. But here, the violence felt almost random. It certainly had nothing to do with the whimsey itself.

I did enjoy the subplot involving Julia's younger sister, who is always enjoyable to watch when she is shows up.

I actually think that Ruby Ogden (Sarah Gadon) would be a welcome addition to the regular cast--evening out the somewhat heavily weighted male presence on the show.
