The Aftermath (2019)
7/10
It is satisfactory, but a wasted opportunity

Not many cold war movies are bade nowadays. The Bridge of Spies is an example of a very good one. I was expecting something similar.

Instead, we got a story that totally misses the point. In the 1940s, USSR was trying to get a foothold in Western Europe, the enemy to be fought was communism, but in the movie there is no reference at all to the most pressing matter. There are mentions about the dead in the Blitz when we know that the civilian casualties in Great Britain were almost non existent (even military ones were very low).

Then the movie has this spoiled brat girl who is rude to the officers that confiscated her house. That would never happen in real life because she would be punished for insubordination. Also there is this German character (Alexander Skasgaard) who is allowed to stay in his former house. That wluld never happen because there were non fraternizing rules that kept germans and allied occupiers segregated (even today, British peolle cannot speak German).

So I find the story not very plausible and it could give us more background instead of focusing on so much romance
