When Harry Met Maggie
14 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When Harry first met Maggie, they seemed destined for each other as high school sweethearts. But they went their separate ways, Maggie to New York to become a successful fashion designer and Harry the homegrown boy remaining in Forrest Mountain working in the local newsroom.

Now, years later, they are reunited around a mysterious string of murders of graduates of Forrest Mountain High School. While their rekindled passion is only a subplot, it may be the best thing in "Circle of Friends."

Five victims died unexpected deaths in a car crash, a fire, a gas leak, a suicide, and an accidental fall from a balcony. Unfortunately, the film gets bogged down in heavy exposition about the different classmates from Forrest Mountain High. It is not until the homestretch of the film that some drama genuinely kicks in. Among the circle of friends, Maggie is the only one who suspects foul play. And the perp has to be one of the people in a photo taken of the high school kids while on a camping trip.

The character who holds the key to unlocking the dark secrets of the past is Bobby "Ozzy" Osbourne, who now is a stand up comic in New York going by the name of Rob West. In the convoluted plot, when Maggie gets Ozzy to talk, she will finally have something tangible to give the hopeless sheriff of Forest Mountain.

Maggie achieves some closure on the death of her husband Richard, who died not by a DUI, but due to a little pill that was inserted into his drink by an ambitious yet insecure social climber and killer. While the mystery is finally solved, the film as a whole seemed flat with only a few sparks that fly when Harry met Maggie.
