This movie recounts the 20-year correspondence between Helene Hanff (Anne Bancroft) and Frank P. Doel (Anthony Hopkins), a manager of the London book store, Marks & Co, over the course of 20 years.

Instead, the performers read their letters, while performing the actions they describe. To bolster the two fine leads, there are sme supporting players, including Judy Dench, Maurice Denham, and Ian McNiece.
