The Love God? (1969)

Don Knotts as The Hugh Hefner Story
1 February 2021
The Love God, is the life story of Hugh Hefner, plain and simple! It is very sexy, and Knotts fashions worn in this movie are amazing and stylish and can be worn in 2021, to great acclaim! The Love God is way before it's time. The gangster J.Charles Twilight, played frighteningly by B.S. Pulley, embodies all of the humor and menacing, sociopathic traits of the movie and t.v gangsters to come decades later, such as Tony Soprano, Paulie Walnuts, and a few from Goodfellas.

Pulley, is actually scary in this, and he does something very shocking, not usually seen in a Don Knotts movie, which I will not spoil it here, but it will take you off guard when it happens. And, the musical scene with the song Mr. Peacock, is a foot tapping number, and my hat goes off to the Director of Photography for that scene, as well as the choreographer and costume designer!

The Love God isn't played often and not included in Don Knotts other works, because it is a very racy movie, way ahead of it's time and a departure from Knotts usual nervous-nutjob roles. The Love God could have actually been P.G. or R-rated, under the right circumstances. Great movie in every way!
