The Flight Attendant (2020–2022)
3/10
offensively vapid

It would be possible to make a good comedy (I guess it's supposed to be a comedy... it isn't funny but the tone is kind of like a dumb Sleepless in Seattle) about a party girl flight attendant who gets caught up in a gruesome crime... but it would be a dark comedy. This show seems to think it can just smirk through it all with lighthearted jokes about the song on the phone alarm interrupting things, and while the main character behaves in a reprehensible manner we are supposed to unquestioningly like her and cheer her on.

Certainly one of the most idiotic, painfully bad things I have ever seen on television. The great poster artwork is completely misleading (it suggests a kind of Hitchcockian North-by-Northwest stylish romp) and the bummer is I can still imagine that version of this story.

The use of split screen is extremely tiresome and ineffective. Probably the main reason to watch it is to learn why films are made cutting back and forth during a phone call instead of using split screen... it's a lazy choice by a director who doesn't have any idea what we should be looking at.
