Review of Panic

Panic (2021)
3/10

Warning: Spoilers
I was confused by some events that occurred in this series.

First, the police officers are incompetent at best. Teenagers died from the previous years' Panic game and the police act ho-hum about stopping the game the current year it begins. Honestly, they are shown only when the audience needs clarification/get everyone on the same page. If y'all watch the show, the officers actually do not stop anything (I do not consider the officers crashing the END of the second challenge anything significant since everyone important had already played).

Second, the teenagers have neglectful parents even though they live in a small Texas town. I enjoyed the portrayal of Heather's family life because it added realism to the series but everyone else was just too hedonistic. Speaking of parents, there was a minute trope with the black father and son about their actions having consequences ("being watched") thrown in the show to sound "woke", lol. Despite this show not having any other racial connotations, I am not sure why that segment was necessary.

Finally, no one dies except the crooked sheriff. I was expecting some plot twist with a surprise death or series of events - the plot was too predictable. There were slight buildups in the show, but the climaxes of the buildups were anti-climatic.

Additionally, If anyone can guess who wins the money at the end the game before reading the next paragraph, give yourself a clap on the back.

Heather, the protagonist, wins everything! I bet many of y'all guessed she would win from the moment she entered the game. Anyways, from the ending of the final episode, season 2 will "continue" the game, so let's see what happens if it comes out.
