Review of Gungrave

Gungrave (2003–2004)
10/10
Not perfect, but still a masterpiece about friendship and loyalty
7 June 2021
Gungrave is an absolute gem of an anime/show. It has elements of mafia/gangster, supernatural and coming of age stories. However this mix doesn't weaken the show. Gungrave is a show which you should enjoy slowly, it's not the type you can binge as easily, but the journey it takes you along is beautiful. It's strong point is the characters, especially Brandon, harry (and for me, big daddy). You get attached to the characters and watching them age and the character development which comes with it is amazing.

What makes Gungrave truly special is the lessons it gives, and how bittersweetly beautifully it showcases friendship and loyalty. I was really moved with this one, top notch foreshadowing, badass-ery and themes. 10 out of 10.
