There are reviewers who have questioned the self control of one of the chatacters in this episode. As someone who has addictive tendencies, I empathise with the character who - through a continued series of episodes involving highly stressful environments and abandonment by their spouse, which given her upbringing is pretty traumatic, being abandoned after being vulnerable enough to let them in to your life; and coping with a stressful job and raising a toddler alone - relapses into their addiction as a coping mechanism and a method of changing how they feel. Addiction isn't a lack of self control.

The episode rounds out a number of storylines in a manner consistent with character, history, and circumstance. Granted, the quality of the writing has dropped over the last few seasons, but in the case of network TV, this still remains better then the average.
