Epic Title Theme

This *has-to be one of the most debated movie with the passage of time.

Stalking is a serious issue and couldn't be normalised at any cost!

But, having said that. The fact that it bacame a cult and the audience accepted it, shows the maturity (or lack of it) of our society at that time.

Bottomline being, this may not* be an inappropriate movie at that time. But that doesn't make it acceptable for contemporary judgement. It should be and rightly critiqued for it's merits.

Spoilers: But if we try to look closely.

1. Maddy only had one option and he took it. As Reena was from an elite family, who doesn't talk to boys. And her marriage was also arranged.

So does it make it ethical, of course! NOT.

Still at the same time, at last when Maddy had a chance to get physical with Reena, he didn't took advantage of the situation. Instead he stepped back knowing that he is not the person she thinks he is.

2. But at other points it's was purely toxic with statements like- "There's no point talking to these girls with a straight face.. (after cheating)" Even shouting/screaming in front of her in agressive loud voice.

And, "I'll forget* her, but will she be able to forget me?" Poor storylines as Dad pleading for his guilty son.

In conclusion. There's no sense to it, even if we're trying hard to find one. It was pure business. They made what they knew would sell 'at that time'.

Just because it was a hit, doesn't make it relevant today. It's not even worth watch today. One can definitely skip it. But still bearable watch if one intends to.
