This serial is intended mostly for younger audience, so that mostly sword fight scene at start was practically without any serious injury, cut.
And it stays for later action scenes too. And that's OK, of course.
First episode was pretty well packed with diverse locations in diverse time periods, and sets were pretty good, what means bigger budget than nowadays most of TV serials (not counting actor salaries). Two main actors did good job, so this is quite enjoyable, even for older people. Just need to be not too critical about level of realism.
Well, I wonder why they jumped at Wright brothers while they had bicycle repair shop. It is known that key factor in their success was engine - small weight, size ...
And something little disturbing: when Phineas started very dangerous action with some kind of fly suit, Jeffrey said him: this is suicide. And Phineas answered: sometimes you got to bite a bullet. We know what happened with J. E. Hexum couple years later .
I see complains about only 1 season. I think that it was OK. More of it would most likely water it up.
