I don't know whether Cary Grant was bored with shooting his scenes or completely unprepared but he looks off-camera in almost every scene, as if he's waiting for a director's cue or following the dialogue on a teleprompter. Just focus on where his eyes go. It's like he's shooting a soap opera. Easily his most incompetent performance as an actor. He would have won the Razzie if they had existed back then.
I also agree with the other reviewer who remarked on Grant's weight. He definitely looks like he's missing about 20 pounds, like he'd just come off a bout of mono. Which would explain his total lack of energy.
As for the story, we're expected to believe a 52 year old man is daydreaming of settling down and starting a family. Even worse, he's lamenting the lack of attention from perma-fridge Deborah Kerr. How did she manage to avoid being cast in a Hitchc0ck movie? She's the archetype of every lead female character he ever directed.
As for the oil business in Boogstan, who cares.
This movie isn't even good enough to be a teleplay on the DuMont Network. Surprised it got released as a feature.
