Rebelde (2022)

Warning: Spoilers
There are multiple things about this series that contradicts what the Televisa version established and this is supposed to be a contiuation of that series. Plot-holes aside this show is boring and humorless. There is very little conflict and most of characters are not given enough screen time, so we really don't get to know them. Most of the characters just come off as replicas of the Rebelde/Rebelde Way series and leave little to no impression.

The one subplot of the season had very little impact on the rest of the students and they spent too much time on an uninteresting character and a tired trope i.e the dead parent who isn't really dead.

The biggest issue is the plot of the season. A battle of the bands is not a strong enough or interesting enough to be an 8 episode plot. For a show that is supposed to be about a prestigious boarding school they focus very little on what it's like to be a student there. Furthermore the set design of the school is very dull and lacks vibrant colors. The Elite Way School used to be portrayed as one the top high schools in the country where all the rich and important people sent their kids to. Now the school is a prestigious music school that kids go to against their parents wishes.

Another complaint is that the series lacks original music. The whole premise of this show is that the students are aspiring musicians but all they do is cover songs.

This series has very little to do with the Televisa version. They tried making it its own thing but relied way too heavily on the success and nostalgia of the Mexican/Televisa version. On its own this would be a fine Disney/ nickelodeon or paramount + show. With the exception of the sex scene from episode 4 this show feels as if it's aimed at the preteen demographics.
