First, yes this is a lesbian movie. But this is more than just about that. It deals with a teenage girl who comes to terms with her sexual identity in the context of all her other psychological turmoil. This includes an abusive mom and an absent father (thank goodness for that because...). There is a sense of realism to this movie that represents a hidden segment of America. I love this movie!! I won't spoil the ending except to say I like the way it ended (sometimes I like happy endings, sometimes I don't).
