Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005 Video Game)
8/10

SWBII is a very, very strong game. It's possibly the best Star Wars game there is, and can stand alone as a fun first person shooter. It's also alone in the fact that this is one of the few Star Wars games that has large-scale combat. This is a game that many, many hours can be put into to, and it still remains enjoyable. However, there is a couple of issues that prevents this game being a 10/10.

The first issue is the fact that heroes/villains, despite being an incredibly fun addition to the game, can often ruin the fairness of a game. Whichever team gets to their faction leader the quickest usually end up winning the game. Not to mention that playing capture the flag mode with heroes is terrible, the entire game just becomes a race between the opposing teams heroes/villains, which isn't enjoyable at all. However, there is an option to turn off heroes/villains, which I would personally recommend using if one is playing the capture the flag mode.

Another issue, which is actually quite a minor issue, is just small problems with gameplay. Some maps, such as the Death Star, are balanced towards one team, which is unfair, and there's one map that's completely unplayable, the map being Polis Masa. Additionally, some maps are removed from the original Star Wars Battlefront 2004, such as Bespin: Cloud City, and Bespin: Platforms, which are very, very strong maps. Geonosis and Hoth are redesigned, and they're not as well built as the original. Hoth is missing a tunnel, but in fairness to the game is much more balanced for the Rebels. Geonosis is missing the air to ground battles, and looks worse visually, missing iconic locations such as the conference room, and instead just looking like a generic brown landscape. Air to Ground Battles are greatly missed in SWBII, whereby the player could pilot airships in the same map as a ground battle, which makes for a very exciting combat experience.

Star Wars: Battlefront II still remains the 2nd best Star Wars game of all time, and one of the best first person shooters, even after it's inception 17 years ago. If it weren't for the removal of maps from SWBI, aswell as the weakening of the maps that copied over, and if they added galactic conquest online, then this game has the potential to have been better than it's predecessor. Otherwise, SWB1 is a game that is more preferable to play than Star Wars Battlefront II.
