The problem with trying to modernize or bring back a series about kids from almost 20 years ago is that kids are just different then when they what they were in that time. They are trying to thread a needle to have the characters be the same as they were in the 2004 and tackle modern issues of 2022. And they. Either they don't behave or act like the kids of those days or or are different. The new characters also fall flat because well 00s kids aren't 22 kids and the new kids feel out of place with these characters from two decades ago. If they wanted to do this right it should have had the girls be parents of young teens themselves. This would have allowed them to he the characters they were and get across the ideas that the writers wanted to do. This just falls flat.
