It's a laudable goal to help Americans to not be defrauded, but the SEC has always been a nefarious organization designed to give government control over private businesses and funnel money into the pockets of the daily oligarchs. This is the ultimate purpose for nearly all government organizations, despite any altruistic ideas about their founding.
