So I must be watching a different series to most of the reviewers on here. This was a short series, only 8 episodes and made under the duress of Covid. We were lucky to get a series at all so I think they deserve some slack for that.

This series does not take in all that the book delivers, ie we're missing the resolution to the burn the witch aspect of it.

We're about 4 episodes short. That said I didn't really need the mills and boon stereo shagging sections, not when there is crucial story to be told.

We got the reveal about Roger being the true dad, which was good.

We got some great Jamie being the best human on the planet moments. He's the man you'd want having your back as he demonstrates again and again. There were some great Ian moments.

The way everyone turned on Claire and Jamie was a little strange but then you can see parallels in modern day cancel culture so I guess that makes it believable human nature.

This was a decent although cut short season. Waiting for the next part of the story is going to be difficult and I do prefer the previous end of season episodes that tie up story arcs but leave it open for the next part, not a fan of cliff hangers between seasons.

So in conclusion not up to the standard of previous seasons and really only half a season, but nowhere near as bad as the slagging reviews make out.
