I just so happened to be 10 years old when this came out, and exactly the target audience for this film. Owned the VHS and I loved it. My buddy and I watched this a ton, and would then surf the whirlpool on those little swim boards at our local pool.
It's ridiculous and dumb of course, and if I were to watch it for the first time as an adult I'm sure I would hate it. But for me it's full of nostalgia, so I find it endearing. Also, it was the first movie I watched with Paul Walker and became a forever fan. Rest easy Paul.
