Around the World with Different Fogg
5 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another screen adaptation of Jules Verne classic novel (hasn't been movie/tv adaptation of the title since 2004 movie with Jackie Chan). Where Phineas Fogg made bet on his friends at the Men's Club that he can circle the globe in 80 days. With the help of his valet, Passpartout and a female reporter, Abigail Fix (who at the same situations as Maggie DuBois was in The Great Race as the first woman reporter), they slowly discover the bet is partly that he wants to see the world and also find his former love.

I thought the series was okay, it only got stronger after the trio got marooned on an island.

It has good acting that keeps the mini-series going especially by David Tennant. You may not like this version of Phineas Fogg because early episodes he wasn't strong and adventurous character like David Niven's portrayed or the book character. I expect him to be more like he was as the 10th Doctor and Scrooge McDuck. You end liking the character as the series progress.

There are two major changes to two characters on the story. They made Passparout into a black man and Detective Fix into a female reporter. Both characters but mainly Passpartout keeps saving Fogg from dangers while traveling. Without them Fogg would've been a dead man.

I heard they were going to make a second season, this time another Jules Verne classic novel. These three characters were never in it but its kind fun to put them in. I wish they should've added them to Journey to the Center of the Earth. But hey it's fun idea!
