Review of Lucky

Lucky (III) (2011)
3/10
Slow paced and rather monotonous...
29 August 2022
I had actually never heard about this 2011 comedy titled "Lucky" prior to sitting down to watch it here in 2022. I stumbled upon this movie by random chance, and while I am not particularly much of a fan of Colin Hanks, then I opted to watch "Lucky" on the account it being a comedy that I hadn't already seen.

However, I will say that writers Kent Sublette and Gil Cates Jr. Didn't really impress me with the storyline for "Lucky", as it was somewhat devoid of laughs and genuinely funny moments. So as for this being a comedy, well, that might be somewhat of a stretch.

And not only did the storyline fall short of entertaining me, but the character gallery in the movie wasn't particularly enjoyable or funny either. Ben Keller (played by Colin Hanks) was somewhat bland and monotonous, and Lucy St. Martin (played by Ari Graynor) was just an annoying gold-digger. Both of these main character were lacking personalities and likeable traits.

I must say that I found "Lucky" to be somewhat disappointing, because I had expected more from this 2011 comedy, especially after having read the movie's synopsis.

My rating of director Gil Cates Jr.'s 2011 comedy lands on a three out of ten stars.
