One movie regret seeing - and what Nickelodeon fan not expected
8 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Been keen to see this movie in cinema some time after it was released - yet was unavailable as problem with the film and my brother keen to see Scooby-Doo movie instead. Now, I regret about liking or keen to see this movie.

For Nickelodeon fans of TV shows like, SpongeBob SquarePants, Hey Arnold, or even Rugrats and Wild Thornberrys - which this movie does a crossover of the two popular animated shows. It is sequel to previous movies of Rugrats Movie, Wild Thornberrys movie (as Eliza mentioned to Debbie her secret about talking to animals) and Rugrats in Paris movie - third of Rugrats trilogy and second Wild Thornberrys installment. This movie isn't much well liked to the previous three Nickelodeon movies.

Like me, anyone who was keen to watch this movie may realise that they wouldn't like it than as predicted, and might regret initial enthusiasm.

Going into the issues: the premise seems predictable where the Rugrats babies and their families are stranded and need to be rescued, even help of Wild Thornberrys. I do think Stu Pickles an idiot for renting ramshackle boat as Rugrats group were meant to be on holiday on Lipschitz cruise.

This movie also has gross humour and inappropriate content like when babies removing their diapers, bird poop, licking smelly feet etc not suitable at all for a PG movie. It's totally sick. Also, I'm not sure about Nigel Thornberry suffering temporary amnesia from a coconut and a fatal fall down a cliff - as that would've killed him. Or I wish he didn't have amnesia at all in this movie. Also, I had hoped both Tommy Pickles and Eliza Thornberry meet and act like heroic partners in movie.

As for positive aspects: unlike previous Rugrats movies - Susie Carmichael (voiced by Cree Summer) is side character yet more bigger role in this one (even her continuous rivalry with Angelica). There's the switcheroo between Chuckie Finster and Donnie (wild monkey Thornberry member) who scares off the leopard. I like how Angelica is friend with Debbie as they have the same bossy girl personality. And the Pickles' dog Spike gets speaking role voice performed by Bruce Willis (as Eliza has power to talk to animals). I guess I also like the rescue scene where they fix the commvee and automatic-retrieval system for the kids and Nigel when they were trapped underwater in the bathysphere (the submarine thing).

Overall, this movie isn't as great as I had hoped - seemingly done for money.
