House of the Dragon: We Light the Way (2022)
Season 1, Episode 5
10/10
Tense beyond belief.

Warning: Spoilers
It seems to me that the same people complaining about the Michael Bay level of action in season 8, are now moaning that there's not enough action here. Be honest, what do you people actually want?

The amount of subtle relationships, conflicts, and nods in this episode was staggering. This episode did things that most people wouldn't have even noticed unless they knew the whole story. And it did them masterfully. The buildup, the music, the subtle introductions of key characters. Genius.

People say this show is too slow and boring. The show has a time skip every episode but still manages to give every episode time to breath. That's magnificent pacing in my opinion. People on Westeros dot org are moaning about the dialogue, but the show would never be good enough for the big brains over on that site.

People fail to realise that the first half of this season has been putting the players in place and setting up the central conflicts and characters that'll be seen as the show goes on. If we just went straight into the action, people would have complained there wasn't enough back story. You literally can't win.

People complain there aren't enough dragons. Do you realise that the dragon battles down the line are going to blow anything GoT ever did out of the water? The scope and size of some of the future scenes are going to be truly remarkable to witness. But nah, we need a dragon battle every episode to keep our social media ruined brains entertained.

People complain that watching two young girls have drama is not good tv. That's literally the plot. That's what George wrote. If you don't like that, you seriously may as well stop watching.

Honestly, if the show is that boring or bad to you, just stop watching and reviewing it. There is absolutely no need for you to carry on if you genuinely feel this way.

This episode was damn good, full of tension and intrigue, building relationships and conflicts ready for the rest of the season. Considered knocking one point off purely for the fact that Rhea Royce's actress was absolutely terrible, but I'm not going to. Glad she died in her first scene though in all honesty.
