Since Rockstar and Remedy are planning to remake the classics, I would like to shortly review this game. It's true to tone of the first one: the atmospheric Noir-comics-style narrative, the charismatic voice of James McCaffrey, the Conspiracy theories, the slow-mo shooter mechanics are all present along with RegDoll physics and facial animation so to say which are now common things in the games but they are sure were welcomed back then. We sure all miss the MaxGrimace but to be serious, the faces here look more like faces and Rockstar isnt afraid of making some cutscenes running on the game engine,which is commendably.
As for the story - it digs deeper into Max's psychology, underlining his growing mental instability and obsession. Considering that stories for shooters games back then were mostly formality to give player motivation to go on, here they try show something deeper than just the hero seeking vengeance. That is to say, i have enjoyed this game and I surely recommend to play it or to replay it if someone had done it a long time ago.
