Confusing and hard to believe... what they were thinking?
31 December 2022
The film is set in a not too distant future where multinational companies control every single aspect of the persons' lives. Luke Gibson (Cuba Gooding jr) has a traffic accident where his pregnant wife dies. Luke is then taken to Hope corporation, where some mysterious individuals save him implanting a chip in his brain. After a while Luke is helped by Hal (Michael Ironside) and his son named Keyboard for violating the safeties of the object and save his life, and after various nonsense Luke will reach Virgil Kirkhill (Val Kilmer), the creator of this nut project in his office and kill and with the help of two punks trained by Hal doing everything for destroying Hope Corporation.

Looking at the cast for HARDWIRED it didn't looked like a bad movie. Kilmer, Gooding, Ironside... already a nice cast uh? WRONG! They tried with the poor material given, but the movie itself just isn't worthy of their talents. Too many confusing scenes (such as the one with the various olograms of Virgil or the chase scenes at night), moments that were too slow where nothing happened and useless side characters were the movie's ruin for me, and I wanted to give up on it after an hour, and when this happens, it's a bad sign!

Overall, a lazy and confusing sci-fi movie that is bound to make the viewer bored and annoyed. And despite in the posters Val Kilmer has short hair in the movie he has long hair, so that's proof that even the marketing people gave up on this movie when it had to be advertised when it came out. Easy to miss.
