Rose Hill (1997 TV Movie)
2/10
depressing movie diminished a super fun book

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is purportedly based on Julie Garwood's novel, For the Roses. Her books are funny and lighthearted and sexy and historically interesting. The book For the Roses simply sparkled. The entire tone of this movie is depressing. No sparkle. I have no idea why the script writers decided to depart from the book so much. Also, the actress who played Mary Rose simply did not suit, and her characterization was way off course. She was a spoiled idiot in this movie. Example - Mary Rose from the book would have immediately welcomed the Shoshone girl into the family. Moreover, Harrison is not a lawyer and that romance was pretty much whittled down to nothing much. The entire story line for Adam was mangled into a boring depressing mess.

Key characters die in this movie, making The Claiborne Brides sequel pretty much a wash.
