Everyone here is praising Costner's performance and saying the film is amazing. Am I missing something obvious? I find the acting absolutely horrendous and the dialogue unnatural and unbelievable.. In addition, the cinematography seems to pick and mix from the worst parts of pretentious avant garde movies and film noir. The music is probably intentionally disturbing, and it most definitely succeeds in that. It's extremely unpleasant and ill-fitting, often coming on in the middle of dialogues.
The movie tells an interesting story in an unhinged and chaotic way. The feeling I'm left with is reminiscent of David Lynch's "What did Jack do?". Perhaps more die-hard movie buffs and critics find some merit in this film, but I sure don't.
