Not funny, gloriously boring
19 March 2023
I don't know what's so funny about this film, the only scene i smiled at was when the grumpy grandfather tried to shoot a rat with a shotgun and missed.

I don't find it funny or interesting to watch a small british children learn about sex for like i don't know, half the damn movie?

"Thank you Hitler" isn't the funny punchline i can enjoy when a school is bombed. Perhaps it is funny for everyone else, but not me.

The romance was so boring too, the girl was a 15 year old or something infatuated with a soldier, got pregnant too? What a 'beautiful' romance drama. From what i read online, John Boorman had a completely different experience from what was shown in this movie. For one, he wasn't separated dramatically from his parents. I think that's the main reason why this movie sucked, because it was a 'half-fictional' autobiography. Or whatever. Or am i too harsh about a movie released 40 years ago?
