Review of The Force

The Force (1994 Video)
3/10
Good cop, bad cop, ghost cop.
6 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This starts off interestingly enough but quickly dissolves into a cheesy, convoluted mess involving murdered cop Gary Hudson whose soul and memories are somehow transfered into the mind of another cop (Jason Gedrick) who has no idea that he's supposed to solve not only Hudson's killing but the murder of pregnant prostitute (Yasmin Bleeth) whose death is unresolved. Hudson's widow (Kim Delaney) doesn't understand why Gedrick keeps bothering her as if they knew each other, but thanks to Aki Aleong's therapeutic treatment, all is explained, and soon a killer reveals themselves to Gedrick, someone a bit too close to home. What could have been a mixture of action, mystery and spiritual fantasy dissolves into complete silliness, leaving many questions unanswered and a few plot developments unresolved. Not hideous, but it's easy to see why this got shelved for theatrical release and ended up going straight to the video shelves of stores who decided to give it a chance.
