Cagney and Lacey features two female cop partners who are completely different from each other - Ying/Yang. Lacey is married with two kids and Cagney is the single female not crazy about marriage. Their conflicting views on subjects is what makes this show interesting. Shows how people with these views can debate them respectfully but always maintain the friendship. They brace hard topics about abortion, cancer, substance abuse.
And no cell phones! What a treat to see people communicate the old fashioned way with wall phones and pay phones.
Both Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless portrayed these women so well, they made these characters completely relatable.
Today, you might scratch your head wondering how were they able to keep their purses on the shoulder and hold a gun, or run in their high heels. Probably wouldn't fly today.
