Implicated (1998)
8/10
Very Good Thriller
8 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Implicated is a very good thriller starring Amy Locane ( Ann Campbell) and William McNamara. (Tom Baker). One big problem is it is difficult to see Amy Locane films ( probably because of the DWI car crash that killed someone ( very much like OJ Simpson and Robert Blake). This movie in particular is hard to find ( in fact I have not seen it since it's original HBO run). That said it is an excellent thriller and I never forgot it because of the little girl and her parent's ( father bad but he loved her, mother and grandmother worse, because they do not). In fact the only one who puts her first is her Great Dane dog. The entire concept is to kidnap the girl to get her trust fund ( Tom and her father are behind that). Ann who is the fiancé of Tom, falls in love with the girl ( she reminds her of her deceased girl) and wants to protect her, but is no match for psychotic Tom. Spoilers ahead: The best scene is the ending in a cave where Tom has Ann and the girl and are confronted by the mother and grandmother Who brings money ( they are blackmailed by Tom for stealing from The trust fund). However, they want to kill Tom and let the girl die. The problem is Tom booby traps the cave and only Ann and the girl survive. Ann thinks there is no way out, but the girl mentions Tom knows another entrance, and Ann says "you are a smart girl" and sees the money and they escape. Ann who is a makeup artist says "Would you like to be my little girl"? She then makes her look like she does and pick up the dog and go away. Again a very good thriller. 8/10 stars.
