The Rich, The Poor and Carl.

Triangle of Sadness, for it's intriguing title, deals with the power dynamics the Rich posses until tragedy strikes and the poor having better survival skills turn the table. It's basically a satire on the rich and poor where a celebrity couple Carl and Yaya are treated as a central characters. Divided into three chapters though not to represent a triangle, the story focuses on what happens on an yacht trip, taken by Carl and Yaya which capsizes and the survivors including the duo try to make it on an island.

The premise is intriguing and so are the characters introduced. It's a lengthy film which has a lengthy grossed out scene involving diarrhoea and vomit. If one can bear that, the narrative via chapters is unique. Chapter 1 introduces the two main characters, having relationship issues with one wanting to be a trophy wife while other hopes for his love to triumph. Chapter 2 on the yacht introduces more "rich" people and clearly divides the yacht staff based on class. Chapter 3 on the island is where the tables turn and the poor get to have their way.

The pace is slow and much of the story is driven by the characters and their actions. A raw character study of sorts. The ending is however as ambiguous as the title ans much of it is left for our imagination. It is definitely the final Chapter that stood out for me and especially the character of Abigail, making it feel simply right.
