Skyscraper (1996 Video)
3/10
Watchable for the cheese that it was...

Right, well I actually have seen the 1996 action thriller "Skyscraper" once before, so I sort of did know what I was in for here, as I sat down in 2023 to watch it once more. However, I only vaguely remembered the movie, and thus I opted to watch it a second time.

And after having sat through 96 minutes of watching what writers William Applegate Jr. And Joseph John Barmettler had managed to muster up for the script and storyline, it is abundantly clear why I didn't really remember much from the movie. As for this being an overwhelmingly interesting or entertaining movie, yeah, not so much. It is watchable enough for what it is actually, if you can sit through the amazingly rigid, wooden and emotionless acting performances.

Of the entire cast ensemble in "Skyscraper", then I was only familiar with Anna Nicole Smith. And it wasn't exactly because of her acting skills that I was familiar with her. And boy was she stripped, pardon the pun, of anything resembling an ounce of acting talent. But it wasn't actually just Anna Nicole Smith that was stripped of acting skill, it seemed to be the general concensus for the cast ensemble. Perhaps a requirement to participate in the movie?

"Skyscraper" is a very cringeworth movie to sit through, as you watch Anna Nicole Smith stumble through her dialogue and the action sequences like the was a wooden puppet. And it got even worse with the excessive nude romantic scenes that she did a couple of times in the movie. But of course, I am sure that there is an audience out there for something such as that.

The best thing about "Skyscraper", aside from when it ended, was the shooting scene between Anna Nicole Smith and one of the goon. Those guns had amazingly many rounds of ammunition in them, especially her six-shooter revolver. And the way she was running around whilst holding the guy in front of her with both arms fully extended was just laughable.

You are by no means in for an evening of Shakespearian theater when you sit down to watch director Raymond Martino's 1996 action thriller "Skyscraper".

My rating of "Skyscraper" lands on a three out of ten stars.
