Another masterpiece by Wong Kar-Wai

The colour pallet, the camera work, the constant shift between monochrome to saturated, and the spaces to reflect the movement of the story. Incredibly natural acting and a perfect slice of life. Another masterpiece by the one and only Wong Kar-Wai.

The toxicity between the couple is obviously shown from the first few seconds of the movie and everything gets even messier as things go on. Not many words were spoken between the two but closeup shots of their faces and the times they were sat anywhere, deep in thought showed enough for the viewer as the feelings of loneliness, fear of loss and uncertainty were portrayed perfectly in the most human way possible.

I can't explain the amount of love and sympathy I felt towards Chang. To me, his character was like a fresh breath of air after all that went down. The scene where he finally has made it to the "end of the world" was so symbolically relieving to me that I felt a beautiful sense of emotions washing by. It is nice to know that people can still carry pieces of you even after you part ways and that they can think of you from time to time.

I don't want to narrow this entire production down to the relationship between two lovers. There is so much more I saw in it about life, about the mundane things, about emotions and the significance of places.

I don't think my poor words are enough to express how I felt during and after, but I could say that the song and shots at the end of the movie were pretty much the summary of it all.
