Was always must see TV at my house.

I was the father of three young sons in the 1980's and Pee-Wee was always must see TV in our home. Mostly because it was a program that I could always watch and laugh along with them, though I suspect many times we were laughing for different reasons. But that was the magic of both the show and the man. It was directed at both children and their parents to be seen together.

It was also a program that showed a huge diversity of people. It showed children that it's OK to be different. To just be yourself. It garnered many, many Emmy Award nominations and wins. It was even praised by Captain Kangaroo (Bob Keeshan) himself who said that, with the possible exception of The Muppets, it had the highest production values and creativity of any children's show on TV. High praise indeed.

I (and I suspect many other parents from that era) can never thank him enough for all of those wonderful shared times with our children.

RIP Pee-Wee. You'll be forever missed by myself, my children and by the comedy world.
